TORONTO CONGRESS CENTRE
NORTH BUILDING
Toronto, Canada

Completed 2010
The Toronto Congress Centre is a trade show facility that provides over 1 million square feet (92,000 sm) of exhibit space. It is currently the largest convention centre in Canada. Full Scale was involved in the expansion which included revitalizing an existing warehouse to what is now the North Building. The scope included the trade lobby, registration areas, washrooms, meeting rooms, breakout area, and café on the mezzanine level totaling over 65,000 square feet (6000 sm). The 985ft (300m) long trade lobby showcased a concept of layered curvilinear walls defining the entire north side of the lobby. A feature piece called ‘the ribbon’ suspends from the ceiling and travels along the entire length of the lobby adding drama and interest. The west entrance rotunda features an installation of reclaimed structural timber by artist Scott Eunson paying homage to the Canadian landscape and Toronto’s architectural past.
